Presentation of Norway!
With travelling restrictions the last year, and not be able to travel abroad,
I thought writing and showing photos of my home country would be a good idea! I have to admit that no other country has such a unique landscape as Norway – and especially the western part where I come from.
I have had the opportunity to explore many of the beautiful places in Norway, and I will start with Western Norway and present photos and information about the most interesting places I have visited. – From picturesque towns, deep and long fjords, steep mountains and dramatic waterfalls, to charming islands and sandy beaches…
Before I consider all the major cities in Norway, I am interested in presenting all the Norwegian scenic routes – and start with the 10 located in Western Norway. They will include the main attractions in that specific area.
Did you know …
- NORWAY – has between 230 – 300 mountain peaks above 2,000 metres
- NORWEGIAN SCENIC ROUTES – have 18 road sections that have been selected as the most scenic drives in Norway
- WESTERN NORWAY – has the highest concentration of fjords in the world
- STAVANGER – is known as the oil capital of Norway
- GAMLE STAVANGER – Old Stavanger – is known for having the best preserved wooden house settlement in Northern Europe
- RYFYLKE – offers fjord and mountain scenery as well as several beautiful islands
- PREIKESTOLEN – the Pulpit Rock – is Norway’s most popular and spectacular hiking destination
- JÆREN – has a unique coastal landscape with long chalk-white sandy beaches
In Western Norway, it is natural for me to start with my home town Stavanger and the nearby scenic areas of Ryfylke and Jæren. Have a look at the menu at my site, or click on the pictures which link to the different articles.
When I publish new articles I will announce them as a post on the website
