Western Norway
- includes the counties of
Møre og Romsdal, Vestland og Rogaland
Western Norway are known for :
- the highest concentration of fjords in the world
- high mountains
- some of the tallest waterfalls in the world
- beautiful coastal towns
- long sandy beaches
I have been travelling for years, have visited many different parts of the world and have many favourite destinations. Even though I love to explore new countries, with special landscapes and fascinating wildlife, I have to admit that no other country has such a unique landscape as my home country – especially western NORWAY! That is – if you like mountains, waterfalls, fjords, sea and beaches.
Being from western Norway – I have had the opportunity to explore many of these beautiful places in this part of the country.
ROGALAND
- a county that borders the North Sea to the west and the counties of Vestland to the north, Vestfold and Telemark to the east and Agder to the east and southeast.
- is mainly a coastal region with fjords, beaches, and islands, the principal island being Karmøy. The vast Boknafjorden is the largest bay, with many fjords branching off from it.
- Various archaeological finds stem from the Bronze Age and the Iron Age
- The administrative centre is the city of Stavanger, one of the largest cities in Norway.
- has the third-largest urban area in Norway; Stavanger/Sandnes, which includes the large city of Stavanger and the neighbouring municipalities of Sandnes, Randaberg, and Sola. Other cities: Haugesund, Egersund, Sauda, Jørpeland, Bryne, Kopervik, Åkrehamn, and Skudeneshavn.
- is the centre of the Norwegian petroleum industry
- Rogaland arranges a series of festivals and congresses of international fame and profile, such as The Chamber Music Festival, The Maijazz Festival, The Gladmat (lit. food with a happy smile) Festival, and The ONS event
I will start with my home town Stavanger and some of the scenic routes. There will be links and photos to the articles that are complete.
When I publish new articles I will announce them as a post on the website

- has been divided into three districts. From north to south, are Nordmøre, Romsdal, and Sunnmøre
