CAPE TOWN – South Africa´s second largest and oldest City – ranks among the most beautiful in the world.

We travelled from Johannesburg the 30th of December 2019, after a fantastic stay around and in the Kruger National Park.

In Cape Town we stayed 3 days in The City Lodge, not far from the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. It was also close to the center, so we were very satisfied with location, and also with our room and the lodge facilities

The first evening we looked around the Waterfront, many nice restaurants and cafes – and some entertainments as singing and dancing in the streets. The day before New Years Eve and many people visiting.

On the way to the Waterfront we passed this special Christmas tree – made of champagne bottles:

THE VICTORIA & ALFRED WATERFRONT

Next day we had a visit to the Green Market in the centre of town.

The Cape Town City Hall is an imposing Italian Renaissance-style Edwardian building. It now serves as the site for regular music concerts, City Hall Sessions (music concerts, shared by all), and regular events

Here we are by the statue of Nelson Mandela – raised in 2018 – at the balcony of the City Hall – overlooking the Grand Parade. It was on the same spot where he made a speech when he was released from prison on 11 February 1990.

The statue of the Nelson Mandela also showed some of his speech:
“Friends, comrades and fellow South Africans. I greet you all in the name of peace, democracy and freedom for all. I stand here before you, not as a prophet but as a humble servant of you, the people. Your useless and heroic sacrifices have made it possible for me to be here today. Therefore place the resining years of my life in your hands”

View to the Table Mountain from the square Grand Parade – The City Hall forecourt.
Top of the Table Moutain where the cable car ends.

New Years EVE – we spent at the Waterfront..The area was packed with people – a bustling life!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! A great firework outside the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. A great place to welcome 2020!

CLIFTON BEACH

The 1st of January 2020 – we spent at the Clifton Beach. Clifton beach is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful beaches in Cape Town. Turquoise waters and soft, white sand make it an idyllic coastal spot.
It is often referred to as the St. Tropez of Cape Town, and attracts both international jetsetters and locals. More info here: Clifton Beach

BO KAAP

BO-KAAP – is an area of Cape Town – situated on the slopes of Signal Hill above the City centre. The area is formerly known as the Malay Quarter and is a former township. Bo Kaap is known for its brightly colored homes and cobblestone street. The houses are a mix of Cape Dutch and Georgian architecture.
