BRYNE
Bryne is the main town at central Jæren and is the administrative centre of the municipality of Time. Its roads and rail links have made Bryne a popular area for commuters and tourists, it is only 25 min by train from Stavanger.
Bryne is a regional education centre as well as a trade centre. There is also a significant industry, a big part is linked to agricultural activities, such as the production of agricultural implements and agricultural machinery.
FRITZ RØED SCULPTURE PARK
Bryne has a nice park in the centre of town – which was renovated in 2018. There is a path along the river “Kongo” and the dam -Mølledammen- with seating areas and different fascinating sculptures of the famous sculptor Fritz Røed, born in Bryne!
10 sculptures of Fritz Røed are represented, and they are quite varied in terms of style and size. Some sculptures express joy and freedom – others give time for reflection.

STREET ART IN BRYNE
On the walls of buildings belonging to Felleskjøpet, just behind Bryne Mølle, you will find two big paintings. One is a rock farmer, painted by Pøbel from Jæren, and the other one is painted by Claudio Ethos from Brasil.
The artists Pøbel and Claudio Ethos paintings.
“The Lovers”
In March 2020, the artist Pøbel from Jæren returned to his home after travelling in the Peruvian jungle and found a mandatory lockdown in Norway. He was struck by people wearing masks.
That’s how the idea for “The Lovers,” was born. Pøbel spray-painted the image on a concrete wall on a subway at the main road in Bryne, and the image was spread all over the world! – The New York Times wrote an article called “Street Art Confronts the Pandemic” where they showed his picture, and this is from this article:
“There’s a beautiful lamp above it, so at nighttime, it really lights up,” His inspiration stemmed from hope. “Even though everyone has gone through struggles and hard times, there is still heart and love and compassion,”
FOTLAND MØLLE
Fotland Mølle – this mill was built in 1845 – but it is said that grain milling has been practised here even further back in time, already around the 13th century. It was in operation until 1968, and it has later been beautifully restored. In 1995 it was opened as a museum and today it also hosts a variety of art exhibitions.
This mill lies idyllically in nature with beautiful forests surrounding it and a rocky river flowing by. Truly a hidden gem!
Fotland Mølle is located at the intersection of road Fv 206 and Fv 210, about 6 km from Bryne.
It has an idyllic location by Fotlandsfossen – a small waterfall.
We visited it in wintertime and most of it was frozen to ice.
